About Annapurna Circuit Trek

Nepal the Land of Buddha, Pashupatinath, and the home of the world's most fierce warriors and high class mountaineers, and the land of the Highest Peak of the world the Mount Everest. Holds some of the astonishing and spell bounding beauty in its villages and the interiors, One among the most beautiful trek is Annapurna Circuit of Nepal.

The Annapurna Circuit is one of the most popular treks in Nepal, and rightly so. On this route, the scenery and the cultural diversity dramatically changes from subtropical forests, paddy fields, and the world’s deepest river gorge to ice flows, a high mountain pass, arid cliffs, and mountain views.

Passing through Manang, the trek starts with views the Manaslu range, Tibetan-Buddhist villages, and woodlands, through the Marshyangdi Valley.

Heading towards the high Thorong La Pass, a host of mountains come into view, including the Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Tilicho Peak.

This trek allows for proper acclimatization before tackling the Thorong La pass at 5,414m. However, it is a long trek, with an average day being 6-7 hours, and a good basic physical fitness is recommended.

With the varied landscapes, villages, and peoples along the trail, and of course, the majestic mountains, it is a photographer’s paradise. It is also a way to discover the different aspects, cultures, and landscapes of the country in one trip, and while circling the Annapurna range! Exploring the tiny village, there are many interesting sights such as almost prehistoric clay effigies. This trek is certainly varied and full of daily surprises and interesting finds and accompanied all the way with up close and personal mountain views! This trek provides you the opportunity to learn about the Tibetan way of life that strongly runs in Mustang valleys. There is a slight chance of seeing a snow leopard in Yak Kharka along with blue sheep.

As the path ascends, you will feel the air turn cold, dry, and harsher. This trail goes through the Tibetan settlements, and we get a chance to explore Tibetan Buddhist culture. We will be visiting Barge Monastery on the trails, the largest monastery in Manang. You will find that the path is dotted with Buddhist shrines as we pass more monasteries. Overnight stay at Braga.

Today's trek will be a little easier. Manag village is just at 2km distance from Braga. After reaching Manang, we take the upper route which follows a path down down to a river. After crossing the river, we will walk through coniferous forests. After a 3 hours of walk, we will be arriving at the Tibetan settlement Khangsar. After another hours of walk, we will be reaching Shree Kharka. Throughout the trek we will have a clear view of Gungang Himal and Mt. Chulu.

Shree Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp (4150m/13,583ft): 7km 5-6 hours

From Tilicho Base Camp the views of Tilicho Peak and other mountains are amazing! Today the trail takes you through areas prone to landslides so extra care must be taken. Overnight at Tilicho Base Camp.

Visit Tilicho Lake (4,920m/16,138 ft), then back to Shree Kharka 7km+14km 5-6 hours

Today we start early to avoid afternoon wind. After a steep consistent climb of 2-3 hours we reach Tilicho lake, The highest lake in the world also referred as the “the great ice lake” by the leader of the French expedition team . This is a large sparkling lake that lies at the foot of the north face of Tilicho peak, after spending some time and clicking some amazing pictures here we take the same route back to Shree kharka.

Shree kharka to Yak kharka (4060m/13,020ft): 10km 5-6 hours

We will descend to the uninhabited Khangsar village, pass Tare gumba, a thousand year old monastery then follow a rock wall out of Khangsar to descend a bridge into the Thorong Khola valley. We have to go across a river, hike up to a plateau to reach yak kharka. from here you can see Annapurna mountains range, other peaks, blue sheep (bharal) and if you are lucky you might spot a snow leopard.

Trek Yak Kharka to Thorang Phedi  (4,525m/14501 ft)/High Camp (4850m): 7km 3-4 hours trek

Thorang Phedi is a busy settlement where people set off over the high pass. Alternatively, we may trek up to High Camp depending on pace of the team. Get a good night’s sleep as you will also set off early in the morning to cross the Thorong La.

Thorong Phedi to Thorong La pass (5416 m/17764 ft) to Muktinath (3,800/12,467ft): 15km 7 - 8 hours

Today's the most challenging part of the trek, we will cross Thorong La pass, one of the highest passes in the world, and the highest point of the trek. We have to wake up early morning at 3:00 AM to complete this challenge. We have to push ourselves through the thin air, and high altitude is also a challenging factor. But the view from the pass will make totally worth it. We will see a panoramic view of majestic Himalayan peaks extending northwards into Tibet.  We can see several of the main peaks of Annapurna. We then descend all the way to Muktinath a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists. The Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means "Hundred Waters".
