🏔️ Bagini Glacier & Changabang Base Camp Trek – An Untouched Himalayan Marvel

In the heart of the Garhwal Himalayas, hidden behind towering snow-capped sentinels, lies a trail that few have dared to explore. The Bagini Glacier and Changabang Base Camp Trek isn’t just a route — it’s a passage into the wild soul of the Indian Himalayas. Remote, rugged, and ravishing, this trek is a dream for those who crave raw adventure, alpine solitude, and panoramic Himalayan beauty without the crowds.

📍 Where is Bagini Glacier?

Tucked away in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve of Uttarakhand, the Bagini Glacier lies near the Tibet border, far from popular tourist trails. The trek begins from Jumma Village, a short drive from Joshimath, and gradually ascends through picturesque villages, alpine meadows, and moraines — culminating at the Changabang Base Camp, with jaw-dropping views of Changabang (6,864 m), Kalanka (6,931 m), Hardeol, and Rishi Pahar.

🗺️ A Trek That Tells a Story

Your journey starts in Joshimath, a gateway town that breathes adventure. After a long but scenic drive from Rishikesh, you settle in, excited for the trail ahead. The trail begins at Jumma, weaving through dense forests to Ruing and the mythologically-rich village of Dronagiri, where legends of Hanuman and Sanjeevani echo in the mountain breeze.

From Dronagiri, the trail toughens — crossing landslide zones and glaciers as you ascend to Longatulli and then the Bagini Base Camp. Here, nature's silence roars, and every turn reveals a new peak. This is the trek’s crown jewel. A tough push leads you to the Changabang Base Camp, offering a front-row seat to one of the most dramatic walls of granite and ice in the Himalayas.

Rishikund :- Rishikund is a small, sacred high-altitude lake located near the snout of the Bagini Glacier. According to local legends, it is believed to be a place where sages (rishis) meditated, and the water here is considered holy. The name "Rishikund" itself means "the pond of the sages."

🌟 Why This Trek is Special

  • 📸 Breathtaking Mountain Views: Views of Changabang, Kalanka, and Dunagiri will leave you speechless.

  • 🧭 Cultural Depth: Trek through ancient villages with deep mythological significance.
