About Annapurna Base Camp Trek

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek is one of the most popular and scenic treks in Nepal. It takes you through diverse landscapes, charming villages, and offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna mountain range. Here's some information about the Annapurna Base Camp trek:

Location: The trek is located in the Annapurna Conservation Area, which is in the central region of Nepal. The starting point of the trek is usually Nayapul, which is accessible from Pokhara.

The typical duration of the Annapurna Base Camp trek is around 9 to 12 days, depending on the itinerary and the trekker's pace. This includes both the ascent and descent.

Highlights:

  1. Stunning Mountain Views: The trek offers stunning views of various peaks, including Annapurna I (8,091m), Machapuchare (6,993m), Annapurna South (7,219m), and Hiunchuli (6,441m).

  2. Diverse Landscapes: You'll pass through lush forests, terraced fields, rhododendron forests, and picturesque villages, offering a varied and beautiful landscape.

  3. Local Culture: Along the trail, you'll encounter Gurung and Magar villages, giving you a chance to experience the local culture, traditions, and hospitality.

  4. Annapurna Base Camp: The ultimate goal of the trek is to reach Annapurna Base Camp, located at an elevation of 4,130 meters. It's a natural amphitheater surrounded by towering peaks.

Difficulty: The Annapurna Base Camp trek is considered to be moderately challenging. While it doesn't require technical climbing skills, you'll need to be reasonably fit and prepared for uphill and downhill walking.

Permits: You'll need two permits for the trek - the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) card. These can be obtained in Kathmandu or Pokhara. But if you are traveling with Himalayan Passion, we will arrange the permits.

Accommodation: Along the trail, you'll find teahouses and lodges for accommodation. These provide basic amenities such as a bed, meals, and hot showers. The teahouses also serve as a place to socialize with fellow trekkers. Himalayan Passion hereby takes all the responsibilities to book the stays for you, and will be accompanied by an experienced Trek Leader.

Best Time to Trek: The best time for the Annapurna Base Camp trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. The weather is generally clear, and the views are spectacular during these periods.
